Past simple (I did)

 

- Very opten the past simple ends in - ed

I work in a travel agency now. before that I worked in  a department store.

 

In questions and negative we use did/ didn't + infinitive

- Did you go out late night?

- yes I went to the cinema, But I didn't enjoy the film much

 

The past of be( am / is / are ) is was/ were

 

I was hungry because I hadn't eaten any of foods.

Past continuous( I was doing)

 

I was doing something = I was in the middle of doing something at a certain point.

The action or situation had alraedy started before this time, but hadn't finished:

 

What were you doing at 10 o'clock last night?

We often use the pas simple and the past coninuous together to say that something happended in the middle of something else

 

= Matt phoned while we were having dinner

 

But we use the plast simple to say that one thing happened after another

 

= I was walking along the road when I saw Dave. So I stpped, and we had a chat
